Assalamu-alaikum,
IAW IS HERE! Hopefully you've been keeping track of all the events via Facebook and the MSO emails from last week. So far we've had our fellow MU students experience a Taste of Islam, and tonight we will be screening the film Inside Islam: What a Billion Muslims Think. In other news, Sunday's RAE Foundation Race to Action was a great success with community members from all over Columbia coming down to run and support the cause. Our own beloved president was quite the commentator as well! We can't thank everyone enough for the enthusiasm they showed for the event.
We welcome suggestions for activities or ways to help us improve, so please let us know by replying to this email. Also, if you have any friends or acquaintances that would like to join MSO please send us their name and email and we will get in contact with them insha’Allah.

Reminder of the Week
Hadith of the week and include commentary. Sahl bin Sa`d (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said to `Ali (May Allah be pleased with him), "By Allah, if a single person is guided by Allah through you, it will be better for you than a whole lot of red camels.''
Reminder of the Week
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Commentary: "Better for you than red camels'' is an allegory for every thing that is better than anything else. Red camels used to be precious in Arabia, and their reference here is to highlight the value of guidance. Thus, this Hadith brings into prominence the importance of calling people towards Allah. But before calling others to the path of Allah, one must himself know it, and for this purpose, the knowledge of the Qur'an and Hadith is essential because one cannot provide any guidance in this respect without this knowledge.
Islam Awareness Week
The purpose of Islam Awareness Week is to educate the Mizzou community and the community at-large about Islam, and thereby acting as a way to call people towards a realization of Islam's mission and purpose. We have events throughout the weeks that aim to demystify Islam in America.
o On Tuesday 25th, watch an award winning film titled Inside Islam: What a billion Muslims Really Think, at S203 Memorial Union from 5-6:30PM. This will be followed by a lively discussion about the film.
o On Wednesday 26th, We have Pink Hijab Day and Scarves for Solidarity. Help raise awareness about breast cancer and raise funds for Susan G Komen for the Cure. Attend a panel on Women in Islam/Scarves for solidarity from 5-6 PM at N103C Memorial Union. Scarves for solidarity is an event where people voluntarily put on a headscarf for a day in order to experience a day in the life of a Muslimah. They later gather in the evening and discuss what they learned from the event.
